My basic summary of a Kafka trap is basically this: The person making an argument proposes that there are only two possible outcomes explaining the behavior/mentality of whomever they're criticizing -- both of those two paths paint the target of their criticism as "wrong" / "illegitimate"...just in different ways. The Kafka trap ensures that a target of criticism becomes demonized regardless of whether they take Path A or Path B.
