Probably the best time that "Bros" could have been accepted by the general public would have been immediately before -- or immediately after -- The Great Recession. And even then, it sounds as though the script would have needed to have been tweaked to represent the time (and probably would have ended up somewhat more watchable than what it sounds like this version ended up being).
