No, it isn't just the man who should have the option to abdicate parental responsibility once the child is born. BOTH biological parents should have that option -- and neither should be held hostage just because the other person wants to be a single parent.

If the biological mother carries the child to term, but then wants to give it up for adoption -- and the biological father wants to raise the child by himself, I believe the woman should have the option of signing away her parental rights/responsibilities as well.
