Penguin defended himself admirably...but these were my thoughts, when I'd read his piece initially:
I think there's a difference between saying "All White people benefit from white privilege" versus "All White people are equally privileged due to their whiteness."
The former position acknowledges the reality that Black and Brown people (and tan- or olive-skinned POC/BIPOC) experience a distinct racial disadvantage that isn't experienced by White people, due to systemic and social and cultural factors.
The latter position implies that race (White vs. Black vs. Brown vs. Brown-adjacent) is either the *only* or the *predominant* factor in EVERYONE'S lives, and that, therefore, most other intersectional attributes are secondary or tertiary. THAT is a very dangerous position to take.
