Penguin, the archetype of a binary thinker whom you're describing wishes to desperately cling to an outdated binary of "mutable"/"immutable" characteristics.

To them, race and (biological) sex -- and sometimes visible disabilities -- automatically vault certain people to the top of the Oppression Olympics platform.

People who face discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, age, generational status, religion, political affiliation, many types of disabilities, class/socioeconomics, and a variety of other so-called "invisible" attributes are thereby relegated to the bottom of the heap.

My hope is that, as members of the Millennial, Centennial (Zoomer), and Alpha (Coronial) generations rise to power, this will change.
