Phaylen, I definitely agree with your position on the pearl-clutching by people displaying selective outrage here. Here's my question:

Isn't this controversy a greater testament to the harmful nature of iconism (favoritism and privilege afforded to people based on their celebrity status)? Whether one is pro-Chappelle or pro-Smith or pro-Rock or pro-Franken -- celebrities can't whine about how they just want to be treated like "regular people"...and then turn right around to bask in preferential treatment bestowed upon them by their fanlemmings.
