Some great suggestions, Devon! One that I've found works for me is that I very rarely go on my Facebook newsfeed anymore, because of all the toxic rabbit-holes one can easily find themselves getting pulled down. However, I do selectively and consciously click on individual friends' profiles, to read their walls and find out what's been going on with them. I can't give up Facebook altogether, because it's critical to my ORG work.
It also helps that I don't have a SmartPhone; so, to be aware of any notifications, I literally have to click around using my laptop in order to skim them.
