The other aspect people tend to forget is that, even if "red" (or "purple") rural areas are changing more slowly than "blue" (or "purple") suburban & urban areas are...the rural areas are still being influenced by the Millennials, Zoomers, and Alphas who populate those communities (much to their parents' chagrin, much of the time). Evolution is baked into pretty much every new generation that arises, albeit not necessarily at the same rate from one cohort to the next.
