The problems you've described with legacies and other structural advantages given to White kids...those systemic disparities need to be confronted. So we are in agreement there. And that perhaps warrants a separate article, where I echo and amplify specific solutions put forth by Black and Brown racial justice leaders.

But the way to confront it isn't to say, "Stop whining about it"...

That makes the self-appointed DEI arbiter, in the eyes of the uninformed, appear to be pushing censorship or authoritarianism. Which is, ironically, what most DEI proponents actually probably hope to COMBAT.

What needs to happen is that affirmative action proponents need to say, "Here's how it actually works..." in order to disempower the long-running narrative cultivated by the Far Right, where conservative politicians/activists keep pounding away at this myth that Black and Brown kids are either: A.) inherently inferior; or B.) "generally" underqualified or unqualified in comparison to White students. For those of us who know how false those myths are -- WHY are we letting them get away with those narratives?!

Why are we jumping on the bandwagon embodied by Jodi's childish (and archetypical) pout of, "Let's stick it to whitey..."???? (and, to clarify: it's not so much about Jodi as an individual as it is about the people in general who have chosen to peddle that type of narrative and indoctrinate young people with it)
