This article forced me to reflect on my own internalized ableism toward myself, as I've been assigned the "high-functioning" label by medical professionals, and I have used it to self-identify when trying to help neurotypical people make sense of my autism (for their own cognitive benefit).
I guess my residual question would be: how can we, as autistic people, help to foster improved understanding of our individual conditions/experiences for neurotypical people who may not already possess a lot of knowledge about the full array of autism diagnoses?
