This is very well-written. But I wonder if I view the concept of "responsibility" slightly differently than you do?

To me, "responsibility" is determined and guided by an individual's moral compass (or lack thereof). It's predicated on their sincere desire to genuinely be a good person.

Some people seem to think "responsibility" should be like religious penance, linked to (or rooted in) a person's immutable attributes per se.
