This is what's truly appalling to me, especially as a survivor myself.

Jane Lynch refers to it as "gladiator culture" -- where mob mentality takes over, and lemmings cheer en masse for the de facto torture and assault of convicted parties at the hands of other already-incarcerated prisoners. Bring on the popcorn!

People were trumpeting the same mindless brand of court-ordered sadism back when everyone seemed to want to see Jussie Smollett imprisoned. Even going so far as to joke about how he deserved to be gang-raped (which, in and of itself, had many racist and homophobic undertones).

This is one place where I draw the line, no matter who the indicted person is. I will die on this hill.
