This resonates with me. Although there are two factors that make this somewhat less of a problem for me than it would be for most men:

1.) I'm gay (although that means I'd still need to be cautious of MALE gold-diggers).

2.) I'm fairly upfront about my working-class status with any guy whom I date.

If someone is dating me, he will know that I'm generous with buying things for us/him as a gesture to be sweet and princely...but he'll also understand I'm not going to automatically foot the bill for stuff on his command.
