This was eye-opening to me in underscoring how generalization isn't always all bad, particularly when it comes to functional ("mundane") aspects of life.

Where people get in trouble (and rightfully so!) with their generalizations is when it becomes performative, in the realm of social commentary and virtue-signaling.
