Unless he raped her, why does he have "absolute power" as far as whether or not a baby is made? Last I checked, men can't experience parthogenesis or plant our sperm in the ground to sprout a newborn from the earth. If she is providing the eggs for the sperm to fertilize, she has constituted one half of their mutual irresponsibility.

All I'm saying is that neither of them should be punished (beyond the duration of the pregnancy itself) for their sexual mistake, if they're unwilling to be parents. This position doesn't preclude a woman having the option of abortion anytime up until when she goes into labor.
