Very true. I agree with Ms. Gallo's point, there -- as well as the additional context you've added to it. Cultural sensitivity is important. Another example of how somebody who doesn't want to correct their mistake might sneer "Pick your battles" (at the person who points it out to them) as a tactic for avoiding culpability.
