We have to keep in mind that world cultures have endured millennia of patriarchal rule, where such risky behaviors have been ingrained and instilled in the minds of males. Remedying that isn't like an on/off light-switch.

This isn't to suggest there are zero biological differences between women and men. Of course there are. But we ought to resist the temptation to abuse science in order to affirm our own prejudices and bigotry.

What would our society look like if most of the planet had been under matriarchal rule from the beginning of time...or, more tantalizingly, equal power-sharing across gender lines? We'll never really know, for certain; it's an alternate-universe scenario, and we can only grapple with dismantling the current patriarchy in the most effective ways possible.
