Well, I don't base my own positions on whether something is "constitutional" (because what does that really mean, anymore?), or whether the Founding Fathers would have hypothetically approved or disapproved (and it's not like they're alive so we can double-check with them on their opinions).

I base my support of public policy on feasibility and common sense...whether it's laid out in the Constitution, or not. There were just too many unforeseen variables that the Framers could never have anticipated when they originally wrote it. In terms of gun policy, I embrace the spirit of the Second Amendment...that law-abiding citizens have the right to own private firearms -- however, state and federal governments reserve the right to develop REASONABLE guidelines and limitations to account for public safety while gunowners enjoy that right.
