Well, obviously, I reject the notion that Democrats have already irreparably done themselves in. However, they need to get their act together. A lot of them can see this and are sounding the alarm (such as Jamie Raskin, AOC, Mallory McMorrow, etc.). But I agree that Pelosi and Schumer need to hand over their gavels to new standard-bearers.

I'd also argue that Republicans are poised to cut their own throats by continuing to kiss up to Trump while pushing QAnon-style policies.
