We're in agreement, if it's a specific case where both lesbian spouses in a same-sex marriage are fine with the saying, and they choose to view it playfully and in jest within the context of their own relationship. Same goes for a heterosexual marriage in which both spouses feel that way.
I suppose "literally" was a bad word choice, on my part -- instead of "literally," I should have said "universally." What I reject is the tendency to use it as a rule-of-thumb that the wise sages of the world dispense to EVERYBODY -- insinuating that women need to be placated and/or men need to be kept on a short leash.
