What gives me pause about Mexico are all of the accounts of Americans being held by the authorities for bogus criminal charges, either coming in or going out of the country. Canada doesn't seem to have that same magnitude of "under-the-table" corruption. Also, when my parents went to Mexico for a wedding back in 1984, they get very sick from the drinking water.
