What makes you think THOSE writers don't similarly have dozens upon dozens of incomplete drafts OF THEIR OWN sitting in their queues? I tend to think a lot of their pieces end up going viral largely due to the readership they've built up over the course of multiple years, on the platform.
I've given up trying to figure out the formula to what makes an article go viral. My highest-grossing highest-read piece to date (which has 1,400 Lifetime Views, and still increasing) was written by me for shits n' giggles...and, quite honestly, there are other things I've written that I'd prefer get far more eyeballs than that one has. And 1,400 views isn't exactly "viral," even though it's done better than all of my other articles have. It's maddening!
