What's interesting is how people will sometimes change their outlook, when you provide them with nuance and more vivid details.
For example, my mom is a hard-core Trump supporter who always votes Republican. I was telling her why I don't support individual personal checks as slavery reparations, and she obviously agreed with my viewpoint there. Then, I proceeded to explain to her why I believe it DOES make sense to fund reparations programs that would help communities of color and reach a lot more people faster.
You know what she said...???
"Okay, *THAT* wouldn't be so bad."
Not exactly a ringing endorsement, of course. But also not the sort of unequivocal shutdown you'd expect from a Trump-loyalist.
