When did I ever say this? What I was referring to was the fact that so many White people have been ignorant or oblivious to the lived reality of Black lives for so long -- *not* that these atrocities somehow suddenly began happening within just the past decade. For those who were unfamiliar with systemic racism -- be it experientially or academically -- "defund" meant nothing other than its literal interpretation.
