When I refer to nationalistic arrogance, I'm referring to people's belief that their country is "the best."

I'm not saying everybody from every country believes this. I'm saying that many do. And I know this, firsthand, from talking with them. When someone expresses a sentiment, generally, you're supposed to believe they're being honest -- what would be their motivation for lying about something like that?

It doesn't matter whether I've visited other countries or not (never mind that I don't have the financial or emotional luxury to do so, especially not at the moment). Even as someone who has only resided in America, I've always acknowledged that the United States isn't superior or comparatively-exceptional to every other country. I don't understand the Americans who do subscribe to that delusion (well, I understand how they've been TAUGHT to believe that...I don't understand why someone would be willfully ignorant of considering alternate possibilities).

Similarly, I can understand why you might be confused by some of my wording. As a person with autism, it's something I confront on a daily basis. I'm always more than willing to clarify, when somebody doesn't quite understand what I meant.
