Why does "chivalry" necessarily have to be monodirectional?

However, chivalry and what it means in this day and age is much more complicated. You may have heard the expression, ‘chivalry is dead’ which refers to the fact that present-day men are not as ‘chivalrous’ as they used to be.

Why does "chivalry" necessarily have to be monodirectional?
Why can't women be chivalrous toward men? Or why can't men be chivalrous toward other men? Or why can't women be chivalrous toward other women?
Can nonbinary people receive/practice chivalry?
