Yes, this is another big problem. The lowercase-"m" term of "millennials" can alternately be used as a generic invective to demean anybody aged 0 through 40 (which is ironic, because approximately ages 8 & 9 is where the Zoomer generation ends and the new Alpha generation begins).

What's problematic about this, however, is that EVEN WITH such an informal lowercase usage of "millennials" -- it still shares the same namesake/moniker as my generation. So we ("Generation Y") get a lion's share of the heat. I also believe there is an unconscious desire from many in the older generations to view Generation Z and Generation AA ("Alpha") as an opportunity to essentially "redeem" America's youth...since GenY/Millennials have apparently "let America down" as irredeemably "defective."

Any way you slice it, however, it's ageism. Alas, this reality goes against the politically-correct dichotomy that only older generations (primarily "Boomers") are the targets of ageism.

It's become a big clusterfuck, and I don't know what the answer is...but the answer is most certainly NOT the continued marginalization of my generation.
