You misunderstand what I'm saying..."Gen Z" isn't derogatory, in and of itself, when juxtaposed alongside of "Gen X" and "Gen Y."

What's insulting is the LACK OF symmetry when juxtaposing different generations in the same breath. As an adjective-based descriptor, jumping from:

"GenXer"

to

"millennial" (especially without the capitalization)

to

"GenZer"

...is specifically disenfranchising Gen Y (Millennials) by exclusion. It's the context. It implies a negative value-judgment AGAINST Gen Y as the "defective" generation, when sandwiched between X & Z in that manner. Couple this with the overarching disdain toward Gen Y that exists from PRETTY MUCH EVERY GENERATION currently alive (except for maybe the Alphas; but that could be due to how young they are), and we're only deepening the generational divides moreso than they currently are.

A step in the right direction, here, would be to avoid all of the asymmetry. Punctuation and references should be symmetrical. Otherwise, the artificial differences between generational cohorts become even more pronounced (within our cultural psyche) than they should be.

I also don't believe in leaving "boomer" all in lowercase. Capitalization ("Boomer") enhances dignity.
