I do think, ultimately, that the fact that we have access to Margaret Atwood's literature (and its TV adaptation) decreases the odds of it actually happening in our reality. I wonder, within the context of the fictional Gilead-centric "Atwoodverse," if THEIR characters even had prior access to their own iteration of Handmaiden-style fiction, hypothetically?
