You're right about the #Hyperwoke people seeking any leverage they can, in order to push their agenda/dogma. That just means we have to get out ahead of their narrative, and refute it in a more effective manner from the onset.

I'm not a proponent of white guilt or groupthink-based blame at all. As I've said, I look at the concept of privilege in a clinical manner...not as a character flaw. There doesn't need to be any guilt or self-loathing from anyone if we examine it in the respect of, "Here's a way in which I might be privileged/advantaged [whatever you want to call it], so how can I be a proactive part of the solution to make sure that we transform policies so they are inclusive?" And then hone in on the solutions.

That brings us to the journalism example. We'd obviously need to examine more data to determine if -- or to what degree -- there is racial bias in journalism. But, assuming it exists, it would be an iteration of racism. The NBA is a really bad example, because professional sports is one of the few industries in which Black players are perhaps overrepresented dude to its emphasis on raw talent rather than networking or cronyism.
